Bheramara Upazila is located 23 km northwest of Kushtia district headquarters. The total area of the upazila is 153.62 sq km. Bheramara Upazila is bounded on the north-east by Padma river, on the east-south by Mirpur upazila, on the west by Daulatpur upazila and on the east by Kushtia Sadar upazila. It has been established as a police station since the British period.
Later 06/01/1972 AD. It was promoted as an upazila on the date. It consists of one municipality and six unions namely: Bahadurpur, Dharampur, Chandgram, Bahirchar and Mokarimpur. The total number of villages in this upazila is 71 and the number of mouzas is 43. Total population of the upazila is 1,65,480. Among them 90,600 males and 84,60 females. There are 6 unions in Bheramara upazila. Bahirchar Union Parishad is one of them.
